GCSE Further Maths Online Outreach Programme

We are excited to announce that from September 2022, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form will be offering an online programme for GCSE students in Norfolk who would like to study GCSE Further Maths (AQA Level 2). This programme is for students in years 10 & 11 who enjoy studying maths and want to deepen their knowledge beyond their normal maths lessons.

GCSE Further Maths is a very popular subject that allows students to extend their knowledge of topics studied in GCSE Maths, for example, quadratics equations and trigonometry. The course also introduces students to new topics including differentiation and matrices. These topics are then extended in A-level Maths and Further Maths. Our online sessions will focus on the content which is new on the Further Maths GCSE, we will however ensure that we cover topics that overlap with the Maths GCSE.

Our programme will further develop students' algebraic manipulation and problem-solving skills which will support them in their learning of GCSE maths. Taking part in our programme will be excellent preparation for students who are interested in studying A-level Maths or Further Maths, developing students’ understanding of the depth of maths topics.

The programme is designed as a two-year course starting in year 10 to allow students to take their Further Maths GCSE alongside their other GCSE exams at the end of year 11. The student's school will be required to support the application of the student and to enter them for the exams (to be taken at their own school).

Our online session will be held weekly on Thursdays, 3:45 pm - 5:00 pm. For safeguarding purposes each session will have at least two teachers on the call and sessions will not be recorded. Students registered for the course will have access to a website that will have videos and additional resources which they can use to support their learning.
